Survival Lesson 2 (updated)

November 8, 2015 By Let's Learn Hungarian!

Survival Lesson 2 is here – again! Our survival lessons are designed for short-term visitors to Hungary to help them get around with basic phrases while in the country.

This audio lesson was originally done several years ago with only Steven. Now it’s finally been rerecorded, with Györgyi’s voice doing the Hungarian pronunciation.

We hope you find it useful! As always, we welcome your questions about the Hungarian language, and any feedback in general.

Don’t forget to check out our new audiobook, Essential Words and Phrases in Hungarian, available on a pay-what-you-want basis!

The PDF file below contains the written dialogue and vocabulary, and the MP3 file has the audio for Survival Lesson 2. Download both of them below, and thanks for listening!

    HI Steven and Györgyi,

I arrived to Budapest 3 months ago and honestly, I had such a luck finding a link to “Let’s learn Hungarian”. I will stay in Hungary 4 years and my goal is to learn as much Hungarian as possible – it’s a very peculiar language with even more peculiar gramatic, however I see it as a challenge.

I have no idea how much I’ll learn in the future -apart from following your lessons I do have a private teacher as well – but I would encourage you not to stop with these very valuable lessons. The hardest thing for me at least is to get the melody of teh language right and in this regard I find your lessons invaluable.

Let me conclude with the request of letting know the listeners of Slovene and Slovenia.

It’s easy enough, however I would appreciate its mentioning. So now you know that you have listeners from this neighbouring country as well.

I wish you all the best and hopefully we’ll be together for the next 4 years at least.

    Natasha
